## At a glance

| Criterion | Hevo Data | Estuary Flow |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Free tier | Yes | Yes |
| Kind of free offer | Free tier | Free tier |
| What the free plan includes | 1 million events a month on a limited connector set, with 1-hour scheduling and up to 5 users. | 10 GB a month across up to 2 concurrent connector instances, with no time limit on it. |
| When the free offer ends | A 14-day free trial with 24x7 support and no credit card, offered beside the standing free plan rather than instead of it. | A 30-day Cloud trial that begins automatically once the free tier limits are passed, with no credit card to start it. |
| Entry paid plan | $299 a month for Starter at 5 million events, or $265 a month billed annually. | $100 a month for the first connector instance on the Cloud plan, before any of the $0.50 per GB moved. |
| Pricing model | Tiered subscription by monthly event volume, where an event is each record inserted, updated or deleted in the destination. A row that changes repeatedly is billed each time it changes. | $0.50 per GB moved, plus a flat monthly fee for every active connector instance — $100 each for the first six and $50 each after that. A connector instance is one connection to a source or to a destination, so a single pipeline costs two of them. |
| When you exceed a cap | Events above the plan quota are treated as On-Demand and charged on top of the plan rather than blocking the pipeline. | Passing the free tier raises a warning and offers a choice: continue on usage-based billing, or pause the pipelines. |
| SAML single sign-on | Limited | Limited |
| Connectors published | 150+ connectors from Starter. The Free plan is limited to a subset of them. | 200+ fully managed connectors across databases, cloud storage, APIs, SaaS apps and streaming platforms. |
| Sync frequency | 1-hour scheduling on the Free plan. Streaming pipelines arrive on Business Critical, which is quote-only. | Millisecond latency or batch on the Cloud plan at no extra charge, and delivery latency is configurable per destination. |
| SOC 2 | SOC 2 Type II, certified by AICPA independent auditors across all five trust services criteria. | SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance reports are an Enterprise feature, above the Cloud plan. |
| Role-based access control | Role-based access control arrives on Business Critical, the quote-only top plan — three tiers above the entry paid plan. | Role-based access control is included on the Cloud plan, the entry paid tier. |

## Which should you choose?

Pick Hevo Data if A capped bill at low volume with real support attached to it. $299 a month covers 5 million events, and 24x7 email and live chat come with the cheapest paid plan rather than an upgrade. SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA and per-region residency — EU, US or APAC, never crossed — are stated platform-wide.

Pick Estuary Flow if Pipelines that have to be fresh. Millisecond latency or batch is included on the entry paid plan at no extra charge, where the other three gate sub-15-minute syncs behind a higher tier or a sales call. The free tier runs indefinitely at 10 GB a month with no card.

Consider something else: Hevo Data — Rows are rewritten often. An event is every insert, update and delete landing in the destination, so a row touched thirty times in a month is thirty events where a monthly-active-row meter reads one. Governance arrives late too: RBAC and SSO are Business Critical, which is quote-only.

Consider something else: Estuary Flow — You need the compliance paperwork or a lot of pipelines. SOC 2 and HIPAA reports, SSO and any SLA at all are Enterprise-only, and no availability figure is published anywhere. The per-instance fee compounds: a pipeline is two connector instances, so three of them is $600 a month before a byte moves.

## Documented by only one

- Credit card to start: Estuary Flow: No
- Regions: Estuary Flow: Two data processing regions on the Cloud plan, US and EU. Custom region support is an Enterprise feature.
- Uptime SLA: Estuary Flow: No figure is published. SLA terms are custom and negotiated on the Enterprise plan.
- Support on entry paid plan: Hevo Data: 24x7 email and live chat support from Starter, the cheapest paid plan.
- HIPAA: Hevo Data: HIPAA security, privacy and breach notification requirements are met by safeguarding ePHI through documented controls.
- GDPR / data residency: Hevo Data: Pipeline data stays in the selected cloud region — EU, US or APAC — and is not transferred across regions.
- Encryption at rest: Hevo Data: AES at rest, TLS 1.2+ in transit and SSL during Kafka processing.
