# Paperspace

Canonical: https://inetgeek.com/gpu/paperspace/

GPU and CPU virtual machines billed hourly, plus Gradient notebooks, workflows and model deployments; part of DigitalOcean since July 2023.

## Who it suits

Existing Paperspace users and light notebook work: the Gradient Free plan includes free M4000 GPU notebooks, machines start at $0.45 an hour on an M4000, and ingress and egress are free.

Consider something else if You are starting fresh: DigitalOcean, which owns Paperspace, recommends its own AI products to new customers. The H100 is $5.95 an hour, called a promo price, billing is per hour, and SOC 2 and ISO 27001 are claimed for the data centres, not Paperspace itself.

## iScore

57 / 100 (80% interval 51–62), rank 2 of 13 in gpu — interval overlaps the next rank, so this is an ordering, not a finding.

inetGeek's own reading, computed from sourced facts against category peers by disclosed rules. Not a provider claim. Intervals are 80%; a provider with few documented facts is pulled toward the category middle rather than scored on what little is known.

- Kind of free offer: Free tier ([source](https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/paperspace/pricing/), read 2026-09-27)
- What the free plan includes: Gradient Free plan: free C4 CPU and M4000 GPU machines for Notebooks in private workspaces, with 5 GB of included storage. ([source](https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/paperspace/pricing/), read 2026-09-27)
- Entry paid plan: Gradient Pro at $8.00/month on a personal workspace ($12.00/month on a team), billed $0.0119/hr up to that cap; Growth is $39.00/month. Machines carry no plan fee in the docs; the cheapest is C1 CPU at $0.0045/hr. ([source](https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/paperspace/pricing/), read 2026-09-27)
- Pricing model: Hourly usage billing for Machines, storage and networking, with non-GPU resources capped at a monthly maximum; Notebooks, Workflows and Deployments also sit under a Gradient subscription plan (Free, Pro or Growth). ([source](https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/paperspace/pricing/), read 2026-09-27)
- Egress over allowance: Free. No charge for ingress or egress bandwidth on Paperspace Machines. ([source](https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/paperspace/pricing/), read 2026-09-27)

### Infrastructure

- Regions: Three datacenters: NY2 (near New York City), CA1 (near Santa Clara, CA) and AMS1 (near Amsterdam). H100 and A100-80G are listed only in NY2. ([source](https://docs.digitalocean.com/platform/regional-availability/), read 2026-09-27)
- Uptime SLA: 99.99% uptime SLA stated for network, power, virtual server and storage availability. ([source](https://www.paperspace.com/security), read 2026-09-27)

### Storage

- Storage price: Block storage from $5.00/month for 50 GB ($0.0074/hr) to $120.00/month for 2 TB; Gradient storage beyond a plan's allowance is $0.29 per GB per month. ([source](https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/paperspace/pricing/), read 2026-09-27)

### GPU

- H100 SXM, per GPU-hour: $5.95 per hour for a single H100 80GB machine (20 vCPU, 250 GB RAM); H100x8 is $47.60 an hour. paperspace.com's pricing footnote calls $5.95 a special promo price but names no other on-demand rate. ([source](https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/paperspace/pricing/), read 2026-09-27)
- Cheapest GPU, per hour: $0.45 per hour for GPU+ (M4000) with 8GB; P4000 is $0.51 and RTX4000 $0.56. ([source](https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/paperspace/pricing/), read 2026-09-27)
- Largest GPU offered: 80GB per GPU on H100 (HBM3) and A100-80G (HBM2); H100x8 carries 640GB across eight GPUs. ([source](https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/paperspace/machines/details/machine-types/), read 2026-09-27)
- Billing granularity: Per hour. Machine compute is charged only while the machine is powered on; storage, public IPs and add-ons keep billing hourly until destroyed. ([source](https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/paperspace/pricing/), read 2026-09-27)
- Reserved pricing: Published 3-year commitment rates rather than a percentage: H100 at $2.24/hour and A100-80G at $1.15/hour, against $5.95/hour on demand for H100. ([source](https://www.paperspace.com/pricing), read 2026-09-27)

### Compliance

- SOC 2: Datacenter-held only: the security page says Paperspace datacenters are individually audited to SOC 1 and SOC 2. No SOC 2 report for Paperspace itself is described. ([source](https://www.paperspace.com/security), read 2026-09-27)
- ISO 27001: Datacenter-held only: data is stored in datacenters accredited under ISO 27001; no certificate for Paperspace itself is described. ([source](https://www.paperspace.com/security), read 2026-09-27)
- PCI DSS: Datacenter-held only: datacenters are stated to meet PCI-DSS (PCI Level 1); not a PCI DSS attestation for the Paperspace service. ([source](https://www.paperspace.com/security), read 2026-09-27)
- Encryption at rest: Stated only for Paperspace's own platform databases (256-bit AES or higher); the docs read say nothing about encrypting customer block storage or shared drives. ([source](https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/paperspace/accounts-and-teams/), read 2026-09-27)
- Role-based access control: Two team roles, admin and member: admins have full access; members get machines and Gradient projects by assignment and no access to billing, add-ons or team settings. ([source](https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/paperspace/accounts-and-teams/), read 2026-09-27)
- Private networking / VPC: Region-specific private networks, logically isolated from other Paperspace networks, each assigned a /24 RFC 1918 subnet; machines and shared drives talk privately. $1.00/month cap. ([source](https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/paperspace/machines/how-to/manage-private-networks/), read 2026-09-27)
