# Leaseweb

Canonical: https://inetgeek.com/hosting/leaseweb/

Dutch hosting company selling dedicated servers, VPS, public cloud, managed Kubernetes and colocation through regional sales entities, with data centers in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific.

## Who it suits

Large VPS allowances for the money in Europe: 4 vCPU, 6 GiB, 100 GB NVMe and 30 TB of traffic for €4.99 a month (€4.49 on a 1-year contract), from a host that also sells dedicated servers across nine locations.

Consider something else if Your VPS machines need a private network or one price everywhere: traffic between VPS machines goes over the internet, each location is sold by a local Leaseweb entity at its own price, and traffic past the pack is billed per GB at an unpublished rate.

## iScore

58 / 100 (80% interval 50–65), rank 7 of 16 in hosting — interval overlaps the next rank, so this is an ordering, not a finding.

inetGeek's own reading, computed from sourced facts against category peers by disclosed rules. Not a provider claim. Intervals are 80%; a provider with few documented facts is pulled toward the category middle rather than scored on what little is known.

## What the documentation says

### Pricing

- Free tier: No — The only free offer is a 30-day €200 trial credit for Public Cloud; VPS is not among the eligible products. ([source](https://kb.leaseweb.com/kb/public-cloud/public-cloud-credit-trials/), read 2026-09-27)
- Kind of free offer: Free credit — €200 for 30 days, Public Cloud only; VPS is not among the eligible products. ([source](https://kb.leaseweb.com/kb/public-cloud/public-cloud-credit-trials/), read 2026-09-27)
- Entry paid plan: €4.99/month excluding VAT for Leaseweb VPS 1 (4 vCPU, 6 GiB, 100 GB NVMe, 30 TB traffic) in Amsterdam: the monthly base price before any contract-term discount, with a €0.00 set-up fee. The configurator defaults to a 1-year contract at 10% off, which brings it to €4.49. Converted for comparison at the ECB reference rate of 1 EUR = 1.1403 USD (2026-09-25, api.frankfurter.dev), which puts it at about $5.69/month. The conversion is ours and moves with the rate. ([source](https://www.leaseweb.com/en/configure/vc/product/entityKey/VPS02_1), read 2026-09-27)
- Pricing model: Fixed monthly fee per VPS on a contract term, with a contract-and-billing-term discount; the configurator defaults to a 1-year contract billed monthly at 10% off the base price, and quotes prices excluding taxes. Traffic beyond the included allowance is billed separately. ([source](https://www.leaseweb.com/en/configure/vc/product/entityKey/VPS02_1), read 2026-09-27)
- Egress over allowance: No public per-GB rate: surcharges are billed per GB at the fee agreed in the order form, which depends on network type and traffic commitment. For Leaseweb VPS only egress is counted. ([source](https://kb.leaseweb.com/kb/network/network-metering-and-billing/), read 2026-09-27)
- When you exceed a cap: Billed automatically: each GB of traffic beyond the included amount is charged at the end of the month. An optional traffic notification can power the VPS off when a threshold you set is crossed. ([source](https://kb.leaseweb.com/kb/leaseweb-vps/setting-leaseweb-vps-data-traffic-notifications/), read 2026-09-27)

### Limits

- GDPR / data residency: Data is stored in the region you choose under local law, through the local Leaseweb sales entity; GDPR principles are applied wherever possible, with local frameworks deciding compliance in Canada, Singapore, the US, Australia and Japan. ([source](https://www.leaseweb.com/en/about-us/sovereignty), read 2026-09-27)
- PCI DSS: PCI DSS certified for requirements 9 and 12 at AMS-01, FRA-01, WDC-02, SIN-01 and LON-01; scope is limited to physical security access to customer equipment, not customer workloads. ([source](https://www.leaseweb.com/en/about-us/security-certifications), read 2026-09-27)
