# Axiom

Canonical: https://inetgeek.com/observability/axiom/

Event platform for logs and traces with a permanent free allowance on every plan and separate compute billing for queries.

## Who it suits

Small projects that want a real telemetry platform for nothing — 500 GB a month loaded with 30-day retention, permanently, is the most generous free allowance in this category.

Consider something else if Query compute is billed as its own meter in GB-hours, so an expensive dashboard costs money even when ingest is inside the allowance.

## iScore

70 / 100 (80% interval 62–77), rank 3 of 9 in observability — interval overlaps the next rank, so this is an ordering, not a finding.

inetGeek's own reading, computed from sourced facts against category peers by disclosed rules. Not a provider claim. Intervals are 80%; a provider with few documented facts is pulled toward the category middle rather than scored on what little is known.
Read this score with care:
- Adoption is thin: 0 of 2 criteria are scored, so it sits near the category middle with a wide interval (6–87). Read the interval, not the point.
- Documented but not scored, because the page states it as text with no comparable number or a yes/limited/no (a one-time, usage-based or other-vendor price, or a per-site choice): ingest_price_per_gb, query_price, events_included, uptime_sla. Read them on the provider page; the score neither rewards nor penalises what it could not compare.

- Price: 71 (56–87), weight 31%, 5 of 7 criteria scored; scored for peers, not here — undocumented or stated without a number or a yes/limited/no: ingest_price_per_gb, query_price
- Capacity and limits: 46 (31–62), weight 18%, 2 of 3 criteria scored; scored for peers, not here — undocumented or stated without a number or a yes/limited/no: events_included
- Capabilities: 71 (65–78), weight 12%, 2 of 2 criteria scored
- Trust and compliance: 86 (79–92), weight 18%, 10 of 13 criteria scored; scored for peers, not here — undocumented or stated without a number or a yes/limited/no: customer_managed_keys, pci_dss, uptime_sla
- Evidence: 98 (98–98), weight 10%, 4 of 4 criteria scored
- Adoption: 47 (6–87), weight 10%, 0 of 2 criteria scored

## What the documentation says

### Pricing

- Free tier: Yes ([source](https://axiom.co/pricing), read 2026-09-06)
- Kind of free offer: Always free ([source](https://axiom.co/pricing), read 2026-09-06)
- What the free plan includes: 500 GB of data loading a month, 10 GB-hours of query compute, 25 GB of storage and 30-day retention, with no credit card. ([source](https://axiom.co/pricing), read 2026-09-13)
- Credit card to start: No ([source](https://axiom.co/pricing), read 2026-09-13)
- Entry paid plan: $25/month platform fee for Cloud, plus usage, with no minimum commitment. The plan carries an always-free allowance of 1 TB loaded, 100 GB-hours of query compute and 100 GB stored. ([source](https://axiom.co/pricing), read 2026-09-06)
- Pricing model: A platform fee plus three separate meters — data loaded, query compute in GB-hours, and stored GB — each with an always-free allowance included on every plan and automatic volume discounts above it. ([source](https://axiom.co/pricing), read 2026-09-06)
- When you exceed a cap: Billed, then paused per meter. Charges accrue past the Always Free allowance until they reach the spending limit you set, at which point Axiom stops the actions that cost money — and it stops them meter by meter: exhausting query compute halts queries and the monitors that depend on them while ingestion keeps running on an unspent data-loading allowance. Axiom says plainly that this can interrupt service. ([source](https://axiom.co/docs/reference/usage-billing), read 2026-09-08)

### Infrastructure

- Regions: Two, both on AWS: US East 1 and EU Central 1. Axiom calls them edge deployments — you pick one per organisation and event data is stored at rest there, while the console stays at app.axiom.co. Datasets in one organisation can sit in different deployments. New ones are added on request rather than published as a roadmap. ([source](https://axiom.co/docs/reference/edge-deployments), read 2026-09-08)
- Uptime SLA: Sold rather than included: the paid plan lists a paid SLA alongside dedicated support. No percentage is published on the pricing page. ([source](https://axiom.co/pricing), read 2026-09-14)

### Observability

- Events included: Not counted in events: 500 GB/month data loading, 10 GB-hours query compute and 25 GB storage on free Personal; 1 TB, 100 GB-hours and 100 GB included in the Cloud platform fee. ([source](https://axiom.co/pricing), read 2026-09-13)
- Retention window: 30 days on the free Personal plan; configurable on Cloud rather than fixed. ([source](https://axiom.co/pricing), read 2026-09-06)
- Session replay: Not supported — Axiom's own product-analytics page sends session replay to dedicated tools. ([source](https://axiom.co/use-cases/product-analytics), read 2026-09-13)
- Self-hostable: Limited — Docs FAQ names a Bring Your Own Cloud plan; the deployment answer on the same page describes only managed Axiom Cloud. ([source](https://axiom.co/docs/get-help/faq), read 2026-09-13)
- Ingest price per GB: No per-GB rate published: 1 TB/month of data loading is included in the $25/month Cloud platform fee, with further usage metered as compute credits under automatic volume discounts. ([source](https://axiom.co/pricing), read 2026-09-13)
- Query price: Metered in GB-hours of query compute: 10 GB-hours/month free on Personal and 100 GB-hours/month included on Cloud; no per-GB-hour rate is published. ([source](https://axiom.co/pricing), read 2026-09-13)

### Auth

- Audit logs: Every access and configuration change is recorded to an immutable audit trail you can query in APL like any other dataset. ([source](https://axiom.co/security), read 2026-09-21)

### Support

- Support on entry paid plan: Community support on the free Personal plan; email support on the paid plan, with a paid SLA and dedicated support offered as add-ons. ([source](https://axiom.co/pricing), read 2026-09-14)

### Compliance

- SOC 2: SOC 2 Type II audited; report available under NDA in the Trust Center. ([source](https://axiom.co/security), read 2026-09-13)
- ISO 27001: ISO 27001 certified information security management. ([source](https://axiom.co/security), read 2026-09-13)
- HIPAA: BAA available on the Axiom Cloud plan once the RBAC, SAML SSO and audit-log add-ons are enabled; sessions then time out after 24 hours. ([source](https://axiom.co/docs/platform-overview/security), read 2026-09-13)
- GDPR / data residency: Built to support GDPR with a DPA available; regional residency lets you keep data in your chosen region via the multi-region edge architecture. ([source](https://axiom.co/security), read 2026-09-13)
- Encryption at rest: AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2+ in transit; keys are managed and rotated by Axiom. ([source](https://axiom.co/security), read 2026-09-13)
- Role-based access control: Available as a $50/month self-serve add-on on Axiom Cloud, scoped to datasets and actions. ([source](https://axiom.co/docs/platform-overview/security), read 2026-09-13)
- Private networking / VPC: AWS PrivateLink supported, so AWS workloads can reach Axiom without an internet gateway or NAT. ([source](https://axiom.co/docs/apps/aws-privatelink), read 2026-09-13)
- Dedicated infrastructure: Multi-tenant by design: workspaces are logically isolated on a managed multi-tenant event store; pricing lists dedicated only as a support add-on. ([source](https://axiom.co/security), read 2026-09-13)
