Cloud cost management
Each provider is profiled from its own pricing page, with the source recorded against every figure. One charges by the size of the cloud bill it watches, one by how many times you ask it a question, and one takes a share of the money it actually saves — measured against your provider's billing system, not against your spend. The last of those has no monthly price to compare at all.
Cloud cost management
| Provider | Entry paid plan | What the meter counts | What is metered |
|---|---|---|---|
| Infracost | $250 a month for Starter, which raises the allowance to 10,000 runs. Cloud is $1,000 a month with 10 admin seats. | Runs per month. A run is one cost estimate against Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK in your pipeline, so the meter tracks how often you ask rather than how much you spend or save — 1,000 free, 10,000 at $250 a month. | Runs per month. | ProsperOps | No monthly fee to quote. Rate optimisation is billed purely as a share of realised savings, so the floor is zero until it saves something; the workload product adds a flat fee per managed resource. | A share of the savings, not of the spend. ProsperOps takes a percentage of savings actually realised as determined by your provider's billing system — the page is explicit that this is not a percentage of cloud spend. Its workload product charges separately: a flat fee per managed resource per month. | A share of the savings, not of the spend. | Vantage | $30 a month for Pro, covering $7,500 of cloud spend and 5 users. | A fixed monthly fee set by how much cloud spend the plan covers — $2,500 free, $7,500 at $30 a month — with a user count attached to each tier. The bill scales with the bill you are watching, which the page frames as the point: fixed-rate plans that do not themselves contribute to the cost problem. | A fixed monthly fee set by how much cloud spend the plan covers — $2,500 free, $7,500 at $30 a month — with a user count attached to each tier. Which to consider
Catching cost before it is spent. It runs in the pipeline against Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK, so the estimate lands in the pull request rather than in next month's invoice, and 1,000 runs a month are free.
Wanting the incentive pointed the same way as yours. The fee is a share of savings actually realised, measured by your provider's billing system rather than by ProsperOps — so a month that saves nothing costs nothing, which is true of nothing else in this category.
Watching a modest bill without the tool becoming part of the problem. $30 a month covers $7,500 of cloud spend across 30+ providers, and the free tier carries email support and SAML SSO — both of which most of this corpus puts three plans up.
